Anatomical Divisions of Nervous System
It can be divided anatomically into the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS).
-The Central Nervous System
+Consists brain which enclosed by the skull, composed primarily of nervous tissue.
+Consists spinal cord which enables brain to communicate with most parts of the body below head and neck.
-The Peripheral Nervous System
Made up of nerves that consists of long neuron "arma" called axons. Nerves can be classfied according to their origin or destination:
*Cranial Nerves: Originating from or travelling to the brain.
*Spinal Nerves: Originating from or travelling to the spinal cord.
Functional Divisions of the Nervous System
All the functions belong to one of these three types:
-Sensory functions gather information about the internal and external environments of the body.
-Integrative functions analyze incoming information and determine response.
-Motor functions are the actions performed in response to integration.
